2023 Winter Meeting

 On the 8th of February 2023 the SW Scotland Grassland Society organised a farm visit to Coopon Carse Farm, Palnure, Newton Stewart, hosted by kind permission of Alex Robertson, Farm Manager. The farm consists of 660 acres, with approximately 440 cows milked by seven Lely A5 robots.

Alongside the farm visit to Coopon Carse, the SW Grassland Society also had a prize giving ceremony for its annual forage competition, which was run over the course of 3 days prior to the presentation ceremony. The judge William Fleming, Area Sales Manager, Germinal GB had the challenge to sort out the prize winners from the finalists. These were selected from an initial entry of nearly one hundred and fifty forage samples from the counties of Ayrshire, Dumfriesshire, Kirkcudbrightshire, and Wigtownshire.

 William Fleming presented the prizes on behalf of the SWSGS. The overall winner of the competition was John Maxwell, Netherwood Mains, Glencaple, Dumfries.
