History of Farm:


Meikle Larbrax Farm was bought in 1955 with a total acreage of 650. in 2009 a further 700 acres was included when Meikle Garnoch was
purchased.

Total acres 1350. There is no rented ground.


Rainfall average approximately . 40-45 inch


Height above sea level . From sea level to 300ft.


Silage


Acres allocated to silage are as follows:-
1st Cut 190 acres
2nd Cut 100 acres.
Big bales are used as required to manage the
grass.


Sheep:


Following a major reduction in the sheep numbers in 2011 the farm is now left with 75 easy care ewes. Winters are taken on.


Cropping


Spring cereals: 120 acres barley and some oats.

Autumn:100
Breed: Solaire cross with a Charolais bull
Rations
Based on home grown barley and silage.
Target LWG for stores 1.2 kilos a day.
Heifers are sold at 400kg and steers 420kg.


Staff


John and son Johnny.
A tractor man who is mainly a digger driver, but
also provides other help around the farm, when
required.

Other enterprises


Holiday rentals. This is Rosmary Fishers department and has been developed as an important alternative income to the farm enterprise. (see advert)
